Matilda is one of those once in a lifetime does. A typical Nubian, she absolutely loves her people, and gives us all kisses when she comes out for any milking, and cries if we step away for even a moment.
She's also an absolutely stunning doe. She was a moderately sized doe, but her extremely correct general appearance, and especially the strength of her mammary attachments, set her apart from many of the "top" does of her generation. Matilda taught us that a highly productive mammary system isn't the largest, but that having the highest rear attachment in the CA State Fair Nubian CH Line-up, maintained into the "Seven and Over" age class, does make for a highly productive mammary system. She was stingy with daughters, but her legacy lives on in herds across the country. |
